All photographs on Devon in Pictures were taken by Peter Dean using digital cameras. Current cameras used are the Panasonic Lumix LX2 (with a Leica lens) for portability and instant shot opportunities. The camera of choice is the Sony Alpha 100 with a Tamron AF Aspherical XR, 28-200mm lens.

The majority of the pictures were shot hand-held with just the occasional use of a monopod. Peter rarely uses a flash for his 'outdoor' photos.

For exhibition work Peter uses Fredmiranda software when producing his A4, A3 and A3 plus prints. A friend, David Collier BSc who is an experienced physicist and imaging technologist, assists Peter in his goals of achieving high quality digital photographs.

Peter's inspiration for photography and general image-making comes from an early childhood interest, training at the School of Photography in Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK and the London College of Printing where he studied typography and print making.

He worked in London for EMI Limited and Electronic Arts Limited as a graphic designer and film and TV producer. Peter did the picture research for the book Creative Computer Graphics, published by the Cambridge University Press, UK. Until ill health forced an early retirement he was more recently working as the Advertising and Membership Manager for the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
